How to open a PUB file on a Mac
Microsoft Publisher does not have a Mac version, so a .pub file normally needs to be converted before you can view or update it on macOS.
Use PDF when the original appearance matters
A PDF is the best first copy for viewing, printing, and sharing an old Publisher document on a Mac. It keeps the publication together without requiring Publisher to be installed.
This is especially useful for newsletters, brochures, church bulletins, directories, certificates, and other files where the page layout matters.
Use PowerPoint when you need to make changes
PowerPoint for Mac cannot open a .pub file directly, but a converted PowerPoint gives you a practical format for updating text, replacing images, and rebuilding future versions.
Keep the preserved PDF beside the editable PowerPoint so you always have a visual reference for the original design.
Convert an entire Mac archive together
If your Publisher files are stored in folders or on an external drive, you can place them in a ZIP archive and process them together. Original filenames and folder organization remain recognizable in the completed download.
